Baby Shower and Thunderstorm

November 8th, 2008

Last weekend I was given a baby shower by my awesome friends!

I am a very lucky lady to be loved by so many people who came and spent the afternoon with me.  We got a lot of great things for Joseph.  We can’t wait to put it all to good use.

Mike spent the afternoon having fun of his own at his “Thunderstorm” (a baby shower for the guy without the cake and punch!).  He spent the afternoon with his brothers, Matt and Jeff, Javen and Joe playing frisbee golf, and having lunch.

I was also very happy that Mike’s family was able to come from Wisconsin to spend the weekend with us. Sadly, his dad was unable to come, but we are hoping to see him soon!  We also got to meet Kelly, Jeff’s girlfriend, for the first time. It was a great visit, we often wish we weren’t so far away.

I have attached some pictures of both the baby shower and thunderstorm.

(I had no idea how big my belly was until I saw these pictures!)

How ’bout them apples?

October 19th, 2008

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while since I’ve posted, as is the case with any sort of personal website that I’ve ever attempted.  Rest assured, we are doing well, and the time is quickly approaching to when we welcome the newest Awesome to the world!  Michele and I went to an apple orchard and picked up some delicious apples, cider, and pumpkin bread to enjoy during the beautiful autumn that we’ve had so far.  I’ve posted some pictures to prove it!

The Nursery is (pretty much) Finished!

September 18th, 2008

Hi everyone, I know it’s been a while since our last post, but things have been super busy around here as we keep getting ready for Baby Awesome.  Last weekend, we put up some decorations and added the last couple finishing touches to the nursery.  What’s left to do in there?  Well first, we still need to hang up the sweet latch hook duck I made, and second… hmm… what was second?  Oh yeah, we still need a kid!  In other news, Javen is doing well in school, and he’s having fun with his soccer season.  Michele is doing great as well.  Her only issue is that Baby Awesome likes to lodge his little limbs up by her ribcage, which I hear can be pretty uncomfortable, but she’s hanging in there.  Anyways, here’s one picture of the nursery… just click the picture to see a few more.

Javen’s First Soccer Game!

August 24th, 2008

This weekend, Javen had his first soccer game in the Speedway Rec League.  Due to player shortages, he’s been stuck in the U14 league with players on his team ranging all the way from 10 to 13.  The team is a new group, so they lost their first game as they’re still getting used to playing together.  Even so, they all had a good time, and we’re looking forward to another great season!

From Javen’s room to a Nursery

August 24th, 2008

We’ve been working hard to prepare for the arrival of little Joey, and a couple of weeks ago I got the chance to begin the process of converting Javen’s old room into a nursery.  It was a bit sad to paint over the awesome mural created by Matt Lawrence, but alas, it didn’t really fit into the nursery feel.  Now the room is a nice, bright yellow, and is getting closer to being ready for our newest family member!  The biggest bonus?  Underneath the old, worn and stained carpet were beautiful hardwood floors!  There’s furniture and other stuff in there already, and as soon as I make the effort, I’ll post some pictures.  Until then, you can check out the dramatic before and after from simply painting the walls.

First Day of 6th Grade

August 24th, 2008

We can’t believe it ourselves, but Javen started the 6th grade this month. Of course, as with any child, he was not thrilled to have his picture taken early in the morning on his first day. But, as good parents, we forced him to, and have the pictures to prove it.

It’s a Boy!

July 17th, 2008

We went to the doctor for an ultrasound today. It was super exciting to see the baby wiggling around and to hear the heartbeat. Even better, we already know what to expect with baby awesome… It’s a boy! I didn’t have a preference either way, the best news is that it looks perfectly healthy so far!
